CAMRA (Campaign for Real Ale) | The Friendship is one of only 5 Glossop Pubs to be featured in CAMRA's Good Beer Guide 2002. CAMRA employs no paid inspectors and accepts no payments for entries. It's researched by CAMRA members, who monitor pubs and breweries on a regular basis, not a once-a-year spot check. Here is the Friendship's entry:- "Street-corner local run by a committed licensee who has recently made sympathetic refurbishments that have not spoilt the pub's character. A semi-circular bar and a wood panelled interior are attractive features of the open-plan lounge. A corner is dedicated to the local cricket enthusiasts who frequent the pub, along with those from Glossop FC, also close by. The back tap room is served by a hatch. Up to 30 malt whiskies are sold. Families with children are welcome until 8pm. Note the impressive lamp over the front door, circa 1900." |
